Hugo Hearts William (Really He Does!!)

This doll was ordered as a surprise from Hugo to William. It was posted to William & everything. So nice, right? They've been together for 15 years!!! It just HAS to be love, right? :)

Funnily, I was in 2 minds whether to buy this plain yellow sock or not, as most people prefer stripes or a pattern of some sort, but I'm glad I did. Some people (there is proof here) do like plains too. It was later revealed to me that William's favourite colour is yellow. By chance, as the eye & name colour was decided by me, Hugo's favourite colour is green. ;)

Good things happen all at once. I had 3 separate people ordering dolls all at once. NORMALLY, I'd LOVE it. Now, I still do. It's just that I get tired easily & would like some time-off work. Work being taking care of my WeeOne. Come to think of it, sewing is kind of like time off. It's where I go 'Pa & Ma, can you help me look after WeeOne for a bit? I need to sew.' Haahaa.

Anyhow, I had this mum ordering a pair of dolls for her & her daughter:

Candy Cane Gang!

Ah, I am obviously gearing up & in full-blown Christmas mode here. Yes, I know the retail shops haven't blasted Christmas songs yet & Orchard Road isn't deck out in Christmas decor as of yet, but here in hand-made land, as we're a tad bit slow production-wise, we have to start hollering about our X'mas themed wares early, isn't it? So here is batch 2 of SmeowlyCats's Christmas Collection 2011.

Argy Sweater. She is 34cm in height.

Argy Sweater is the manifestation of my having read countless books & watched movies about families spending Christmas together. There will ALWAYS be this auntie who dishes out X'mas pressies of hideous (& most probably, argyle) sweaters that the receipient will be forced to say 'I LOVE IT!' & wear it on the spot. Argy Sweater WILL be joined by more of the Sweater Gang. I guarantee it!

Argy Sweater, all snuggly warm. Incidentally, she is made out of those toasty warm socks. You know, the type with towelling on the inside. Thermal socks? Horrid (to wear) for the weather in Singapore, but LOVELY for cold countries!!

All scarves used here are just props. They are not included when you purchase the softy. However, you can custom a scarf for a small fee on top of the price of the softy. Cheers!

Patchy Kitties!

Patchy kitties. They are made mostly from materials from different socks. I noticed that many people enquire about kitties past-made (and sold off) & unfortunately, I have not been able to get a hold of those socks anymore. LUCKILY, I do not have a habit of throwing away useful looking pieces of cloth/remnants/what-have-you. I kept them in the hopes that I would be able make a patchwork blanky. Kidding.


Bizzy. Made from 4 different remnants, with maroon jersey for the back of her head, underside & tail. She measures 31cm by 11cm & her head is 16cm across.
Adopted. I cannot make another Bizzy, as she was made without pattern & I do not have the exact same fabric anymore. I can make the general lying down kitty, but you'll have to trust me on the shape.


Giddy is also made up from 5 different materials (blue jersey used for his underside & back of head). Measures 26cm by 10cm; head is 18cm across.
Adopted. Like Bizzy, Giddy cannot be repeated to a 'T'.



Mizzy. She is made from 5 different types of materials (she has a brown & lime green underside, like the bellies of these bunnies here). She measures 36cm by 9cm & her head is 15cm across.


Dizzy & Tizzy (both below) are made from different pieces of socks that have been cut forgivingly, to retain their circular bodies. The hardest thing is to sew them neatly so that the stripes are aligned. Especially difficult for stretchy jersey materials. This involves a lot of tacking, so if you see any of this series with 'loose, visible' stitches, they are from my tacking. No undersides of different materials here!

Dizzy measures 40cm by 10cm by 11cm (that's his measurement across his head). You can tell I purposely hoarded materials from the same type of socks to make him!


Tizzy! She is my favourite of this lot! If somebody buys her, I'll be both happy & sad. Happy to have found her a new home, sad because I won't be able to see her anymore.
Tizzy has been adopted! She is in good hands now! I hope to make a similar Tizzy soon! :)

I have more on the way (& some have been reserved by some friends), but I wanted to share these fellows with everyone first!

Muted colours for autumn-type people. Many times, I know a lot of people prefer bright colours for softies, but I do like to do things in muted colures as well. One day, I will do my all-black, all-white, all-gray & all-brown kitties.

Murk with his red eyes. Contrary to what a lot of people think, red eyes are not scary. They are only scary when accompanied by scary or grotesque features.

Mooks is a Sock Monkey

Lil Vera the Bright is a happy stripey kitty. She is going home to one lucky little newborn & will no doubt revel in all sorts of bodily fluids. May she last as long as she was meant to....

Spotty is brown with purple dots. She's really the same sock as Boy, but in different colours.

A. Pinky actually has a partner in peach, waiting to be stuffed. I ran out of stuffing & have yet to run to the shops for somemore. A. Pinky is currently on reserve.
