Ah, I am obviously gearing up & in full-blown Christmas mode here. Yes, I know the retail shops haven't blasted Christmas songs yet & Orchard Road isn't deck out in Christmas decor as of yet, but here in hand-made land, as we're a tad bit slow production-wise, we have to start hollering about our X'mas themed wares early, isn't it? So here is batch 2 of SmeowlyCats's Christmas Collection 2011.

Argy Sweater is the manifestation of my having read countless books & watched movies about families spending Christmas together. There will ALWAYS be this auntie who dishes out X'mas pressies of hideous (& most probably, argyle) sweaters that the receipient will be forced to say 'I LOVE IT!' & wear it on the spot. Argy Sweater WILL be joined by more of the Sweater Gang. I guarantee it!

Argy Sweater, all snuggly warm. Incidentally, she is made out of those toasty warm socks. You know, the type with towelling on the inside. Thermal socks? Horrid (to wear) for the weather in Singapore, but LOVELY for cold countries!!

All scarves used here are just props. They are not included when you purchase the softy. However, you can custom a scarf for a small fee on top of the price of the softy. Cheers!

Lil Vera the Bright

Lil Vera the Bright is a happy stripey kitty. She is going home to one lucky little newborn & will no doubt revel in all sorts of bodily fluids. May she last as long as she was meant to....

Stripers, the Extremely Stripey Kitty

Stripers... aptly named for his extremely stripey (in all sorts of combinations) body!! He was lovingly pieced together from remnants of his friends, some homed, some still with us. I made sure that the stripes were not uneven at the seams.

Laundry Day

Whew. Done with the laundry this week! Check out the after-wash:

Sunblock (left) would like to lie in the sun, but because of delicate fur, would turn red in a flash. So she just stays out of it but peers longingly at a ray of sunlight.
Suntan (right) is just wanting to maintain his current colouring.


Rhubarb is our very first long SmeowlySockCat. He's approximately 56cm from head to toe & is quite a hassle to stuff... Luckily for him, he's quite a handsome one. QweenSmeowly would have a fighting fit otherwise.

Moonshine the Lying Down Kitty

Hello there!

Meet our latest orphan, Moonshine. I cannot decide if he is upset because he has not enough catnip or too much off it... but please do note that his eyes are a tad bloodshot.....

......& we wonder why he has to have a lie down........

I don't know if anyone would have noticed, but I MUST point out that Moonshine was made out of a heel-less sock. I always had an issue with heel-less socks when making the sitting-down kitties, as they then tend to stand instead of sit, like so:

Observe these 4 kities closely. Cute, yes? Matty on the extreme right sits nicely, because of the presence of a bum, as he was made by socks with heel. The rest of the girls seem to be standing up (or lying on their backs perpectually).

Back view of the kitties.... 3 bumless girls on the left & one boy with bum on the right. Nothing at all wrong with standing kitties, really; the colours for the heel-less socks are way prettier, but my preference is still for heelful (yes I know there is no such word) socks for sitting kitties & heel-less socks for the new lying down kitties like Moonshine. Am I being too fussy?

I really should have thought of this design EONS ago, but better late than never... You obviously can't make Moonshine out of socks with heels.... well, actually, you can, but what a waste of a sock with heel.

TAG! He's it!

Please note that he is the VERY FIRST doll with a SmeowlyCats tag on him!!!! Yes... he (& the rest of his friends) is still sewn (& designed) lovingly by me & me myself!!

One thing to note about the sock animals is that they are done without patterns, so I cannot replicate exactly the same one for you... I can only do one that might be very similar to it, provided I can find the sock again. & yes, if you really insist, I can use any type of sock for any type of design. ;)

We Got Our Fish... Now... Take Us to America (We Hear the Burgers are Good)!!!!

These guys were super-sized to be shipped off to the US for a house-warming gift. Got their names sewn, well, not directly onto their bums, but they're like.. tagged. I wanted to do something abit different this time around, seeing as how I got my new sewing machine (got the Singer 8280 in the end... Don't know if I should be regretting it as I also saw another Brother model that looked REALLY appealing.... OH WELL.) & I wanted to try out the zig-zag stitching.

'Take us to your leader. What's that? AMERICA?!?!'

'Did you stick something on my bum???'

These guys measure about 39cm from the tip of the ear to the base, as opposed to the original guys, around 23cm.
